Why study God’s Word…
Pastor Ron Short Sermon
“My son, keep my Words and treasure up my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”
Proverbs 7:1-3
“Studying God’s Word”
As we meditate today on our scripture from Proverbs 7:1-3 we see here the Father’s love for the son in teaching him the ways of righteousness. It is just as important to remember them as it is to learn them. Learning what we never use is of no use to us. Learning commandments that keep us out of trouble will also save our life.
God calls us to “Keep My commandments…the apple of thine eye”. This expression refers to the apple of the eye which, because it is the source of sight, is carefully protected. The son is to guard and protect his Father’s teaching because they give Him spiritual and moral sight.
When we study God’s Word, the call is to give truth and divine wisdom a permanent place in our mind and our conduct.
In closing, the tablets of our heart are the very place for all of God’s laws to be. The world might do away with out Bibles, but they cannot do away with the things we have hidden in our hearts!
This is why it is so important for us to study God’s Word. Contact The Open Bible Institute of Canada today for more information. tobioc2020@gmail.com
