Consider Your Ways
“Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns a wage earns wages to put them into a bag with holes. Thus says the Lord of Hosts! “Consider your ways.” Haggai 1:5-7
When the Israelites returned to Jerusalem from seventy years of captivity in Babylon. They focused on rebuilding their homes, reestablishing their businesses, and creating their comfortable lifestyles back in their homeland. But they completely forgot the importance of rebuilding their temple and reestablishing their lives in relationship to God.
The Prophet Haggai was given the message “Consider Your Ways'“. This is a message that believers need to hear today. We can never be successful in avoiding the snare of the enemy if we are not sheltered in the presence of God.
Indeed, He might even stop our labors completely and direct us to to the simpler realities of prayer, time in the Word and worship. He reminds us that, of all He calls us to accomplish, His greatest commandment is to love Him with all our “heart…soul...mind…strength.” (Mark 12:30)
Without this focus we lose touch with God’s presence; we are outside the shelter of the Most High.
Our primary purpose in life must be to abide in Christ.
Be blessed as you grow deeper in God’s Word.
God bless,
